About the Role
As a Staff Engineer within our well-established Solid Waste practice area, you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, CAD designers, and other staff to service our clients’ needs. This role supports a wide range of projects related to solid waste management, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, water resources, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control planning, and construction administration.
This position can be filled at the following locations: Hershey, PA; Columbia, MD; Marlton, NJ; or West Chester, PA.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and update design drawings and investigation reports.
- Observe and monitor field work to analyze possible problems.
- Perform and/or check technical calculations.
- Use the principles of civil and environmental engineering to develop solutions to environmental problems.
- Prepare technical reports, letters, emails, permit applications, etc. for projects.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables on projects and obtain further knowledge and experience.
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders including project managers, project engineers, and other members of the project team.
- Proactively recognize non-routine conditions and problems, develop solutions, and seek guidance when needed.
- Travel to job sites and occasionally stay overnight outside the local area.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with a desire to work on multiple projects in parallel.
Preferred Qualifications
- E.I.T. certification or the opportunity to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, navigate uneven or rocky terrain, and climb stairs or ladders.
- Lifting & Carrying: Capability to lift and move equipment or samples safely, typically weighing up to 35 to 50 lbs.
