About the role
The Nurse Educator works collaboratively with nursing leaders to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality patient care. Responsibilities include assessing education needs, coordinating and implementing staff development, leading psychiatric orientation classes, AVADE training, and participating in policy and procedure development.
Responsibilities
- Assess education needs and coordinate/implement staff development
- Lead psychiatric orientation classes and AVADE training
- Involvement in policy and procedure development
- Assist staff as a subject matter expert
- Provide input into policy and procedure development and maintenance using evidence-based practices
- Foster lifelong learning
Requirements
- Comprehensive nursing experience in education, professional development, and/or clinical managerial role
- Knowledge of the scope of nursing as designated by the MA Nurse Practice Act
- Demonstrated competency in development of educational programs and application of the principles of adult education
- Knowledge of the application and utilization of audiovisual equipment
- Ability to work autonomously
- Flexible to meet the needs of various clinical teams
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
- 3+ years of related clinical and educational experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Massachusetts
- Current AHA BLS provider certification
Skills
- Working with inpatient eating disorder populations
- Leading psychiatric orientation classes
- AVADE training
- Policy and procedure development
