Location: Arlington, VA; Tampa, FL; Gaithersburg, MD; Charlotte, TX; Cary, NC; Orlando, FL | Full-time | Relocation eligible | No visa sponsorship | Requisition 117296 | Salary Plan: Engineering Grade 016
About the Role
At Black & Veatch, a 100% employee-owned company, you’ll design, create, and build the infrastructure communities rely on every day. Safety is built into every decision, and ownership shows up in how we work—taking responsibility for outcomes and sharing in long-term success. This water process engineer role offers diverse opportunities in conventional water treatment, brackish and seawater desalination, reuse, and mining water. You’ll be part of a global team of over 200 process engineers directing process design for projects worldwide, with strong career stability and growth potential.
- Function as a technical specialist or lead process engineer in conventional water treatment (coagulation, clarification, softening, media filtration) and advanced processes (membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, UV/AOP, ozonation, carbon adsorption, distribution system water quality).
- Apply advanced water treatment and engineering techniques to solve complex water quality and treatment challenges.
- Develop skills to provide technical guidance, supervise engineering staff, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions.
- Develop and present technical evaluations and recommendations to clients and key stakeholders.
- Assist and sometimes lead business development activities: presenting at conferences, building client relationships, supporting proposals and new business pursuits.
Our process engineering team aligns with megatrends in water scarcity, limited resources, alternative fuels, and energy sustainability, delivering industry-leading solutions that modernize infrastructure, optimize assets, reduce cost, and mitigate risk. The work is rewarding and meaningful, the team is supportive, and career opportunities exist in rapidly expanding business solutions.
