About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Distribution Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of overhead and underground utility distribution projects spanning 2.4kV to 34.5kV. This role involves producing high-quality design packages, technical calculations, and field-based insights that support reliable project execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects, including equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
- Produce design sketches, cost estimates, bills of materials, and other required project deliverables.
- Perform distribution calculations such as cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading, while applying knowledge of NESC standards and utility procedures.
- Conduct field inspections and prepare project communications related to vegetation management, third-party attachments, right-of-way, outage planning, reports, and client presentations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in electrical utility distribution engineering.
- Experience designing overhead and underground distribution systems (2.4kV–34.5kV).
- Ability to prepare design packages, cost estimates, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Experience performing cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
- Knowledge of NESC, utility standards, and electrical distribution power flow.
- Proficiency with distribution design software, GIS, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience conducting field inspections and supporting project execution.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- ABET-accredited Engineering degree required (FE/EIT preferred).
