About the Role
This position involves developing, evaluating, and coordinating long-term care clinical management educational curriculum for Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). You will also oversee clinical training, staff orientation, and ongoing education programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and coordinate long-term care clinical management educational curriculum for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Organize and implement a structured orientation program for CNAs, LPNs, and RNs to ensure full acclimation to facility policies, procedures, systems, and the nursing department.
- Evaluate and coordinate on-boarding and mentoring programs for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Develop and implement in-services to educate staff on nursing policies, procedures, and employee safety.
- Coordinate and conduct employee training on various computer hardware and software systems.
- Serve as the primary facility contact for routine computer technology needs, including password resets, new user setup, and general troubleshooting.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the Director of Nursing/Director of Skilled Nursing Services on the performance and competency of CNAs and LPNs.
- Maintain a system that tracks the qualifications and competency of nursing department employees.
- Assist with screening and interviewing nursing applicants.
- Supervise and direct nursing staff as required.
- Administer and track TB tests and immunizations as required. Track employee CPR certification, license, online training compliance, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and maintain staffing schedules as required.
- Provide direct patient care as needed to meet resident needs.
- Assume additional responsibilities and perform other duties, including special projects, as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience in clinical instruction and Certified Nursing Assistant training in a long-term care facility or related healthcare setting preferred.
- Completion of a train-the-trainer program approved by the State of Alabama preferred.
- Must obtain CPR certification within thirty (30) days of employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move about intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Ability to reach, bend, and/or stoop intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics to enable these senses to function adequately.
- Ability to push, pull, or move a minimum of 100 pounds utilizing proper body mechanics and assistance.
- Ability to walk/stand 75% of the day.
