Staff Dentist

About the role

The Staff Dentist, under the supervision of the Dental Director, provides basic dental services for clinic patients, including diagnosis, treatment planning, routine restorative care, periodontal treatment, oral surgery, endodontic treatment, prosthetics, and pediatric dentistry. Responsibilities

• Adhere to and exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines with internal and external customers, including co-workers, patients, and partners.
• Communicate effectively using welcoming words, proper tone, appropriate body language, eye contact, and smiling in all interactions.
• Listen skillfully and acknowledge patient and co-worker needs through reflective listening and empathy.
• Respond to needs in ways that exceed expectations.
• Create reports as required by Salud Para La Gente, county, state, and federal contracts.
• Manage the daily activities of all dental staff.
• Examine, diagnose, and plan treatment for patients.
• Perform prophylaxis, scaling, subgingival curettage, root planning, and oral hygiene instruction.
• Perform endodontic therapy and restorative dentistry.
• Perform oral surgery with consideration for the patient’s general health.
• Provide immediate treatment of dental emergencies.
• Administer local anesthesia and prescribe medications as necessary.
• Submit timely evaluations of staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited dental school.
• Current, valid license to practice dentistry issued by the California State Board of Dental Examiners.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current dental principles, practices, and materials.
• Certification in Basic-Cardio Life Support within six months of employment.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
• Availability to work Saturday shifts as requested.
• Supervisory experience.

Physical Demands

• Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending.
• Moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds.

Pay

$84.14 to $104.84 per hour.
