Job Summary
The Staff Data Scientist position at Assured is aimed at automating key parts of the claims lifecycle through machine learning systems. The role involves designing models and systems that help optimize claims handling, partnering with product and engineering teams to translate claims workflows into ML solutions, and scaling product market fit.
About the Role
At Assured, you will be part of a team that aims to modernize insurance by providing software solutions to large insurers. Your work will involve designing and implementing machine learning models for tasks such as liability prediction, fraud detection, and document/image understanding. You will also partner with product and engineering teams to develop production-ready models and data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Design models and systems that help automate and optimize claims handling, including Liability prediction, Fraud detection, Document & image understanding.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to translate claims workflows into ML solutions.
- Prototype production-ready models and data pipelines.
- Dive deep on early stage products to scale product market fit.
- Help shape the data science roadmap and architecture across Assured's platform.
Requirements
- Experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer with a focus on data science, machine learning, or applied AI.
- Experience deploying production ML systems.
- Strong skills in Python, SQL, ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, etc.), and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Spark, etc.).
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data.
- Ability to translate real-world business problems into ML solutions.
- Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Experience in designing and deploying machine learning models.
- Proven track record of success in developing and deploying ML systems.
- Experience in working with large datasets and complex data structures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
