About the role
Join the Realtor.com Data team as a Staff Data Engineer and enable optimal data-driven decisions that empower our products and people. You will build modern data platforms prioritizing data governance, security, compliance, and efficient data management for optimal performance and cost. This role offers the opportunity to learn and leverage new technologies, collaborate with experienced engineers, and contribute to a fun and impactful team.
Responsibilities
- Champion data best practices and develop scalable enterprise Data and AI architectures and models.
- Balance existing systems with innovative solutions and make strategic recommendations to drive critical technical decisions.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of SQL, data structures, algorithms, and schema design best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand their data needs.
- Debug complex technical issues and provide expert guidance to engineers.
- Own the delivery, quality, and reliability of data in our data warehouse, including support for production issues and root cause analysis.
- Make data easily accessible to users of our Data Platform.
- Participate in hackathons and Proof of Concept experiments to continuously improve delivery.
- Present products and features to internal stakeholders.
- Work in an Agile/Scrum product development process.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building data pipelines and platforms.
- Exposure to build, test, and deployment automation technologies.
- Experience with cloud-based architecture, development, and deployment.
- Experience with data collecting, streaming, and processing technologies.
- Knowledge of Data Structures, SQL, and schema design best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
