We are seeking a Staff Cyber Systems Engineer to join our Mission Defense Cyber Team in Annapolis Junction, MD. As a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (CSSE) supporting the Sentinel program, you will work across multiple locations, including Annapolis Junction MD, Roy UT, San Antonio TX, Redondo Beach CA, Huntsville AL, San Diego CA, and Colorado Springs CO.

Responsibilities

• Implement weapon system requirements to ensure cyber survivability attributes are integrated into system designs.
• Assess and evaluate cybersecurity requirements from customers and stakeholders, decomposing and refining them at all levels to drive built-in cybersecurity protections into architecture and design.
• Guide and support security layout and architecture, influencing the selection and development of security tools.
• Evaluate proposed and realized implementations to identify security risks, attack surfaces, and verify cybersecurity protections.
• Support the development of verification efforts to ensure cybersecurity protections are functional, effective, and complete.
• Support the definition of security governance and risk management.
• Provide technical decisions and guidance within the Systems Engineering Group to enable timely, high-quality product deliveries and meet mission cyber requirements.
• Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams to accomplish program cyber requirements and meet mission objectives.
• Support the development and enhancement of Launch and Missile Defense systems as part of a specialized cyber systems engineering team.
• Participate in an extended team of government, Northrop Grumman, and supplier cybersecurity practitioners across multiple program locations.
• Ensure weapon system compliance with cybersecurity standards and guidance, including CNSSI 1253, DoD 8570, DoD 8510, and AFI 17-101.
• Propose and design cyber systems architecture changes with traceability to requirements.
• Provide cyber implementation guidance and oversight across technical teams.
• Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures.
• Participate in engineering reviews of technical requirements, design, and implementation plans for computer systems, digital communications, networking devices, and computer architectures.
• Perform cyber-attack surface analysis of system designs with recommendations to mitigate and reduce risk.
• Participate in cybersecurity assessment activities, including reviewing methods, plans, procedures, reports, and security penetration test planning and execution.
• Provide input to program milestones and metrics, adhering to cybersecurity-relevant plans and schedules.
• Identify problems and research technical solutions to resolve them.
• Apply analytical and evaluative methods to address the efficiency and effectiveness of Cyber Security implementation.
• Solve complex problems across disciplines in an Agile, DevSecOps environment.
• Support program engineering review boards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 years, master’s degree with 10 years, or PhD with 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity Engineering, or related technical fields. Alternatively, 18 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Direct experience utilizing NIST 800-160 system security engineering and the system development life cycle, including SOW, requirements, architecture, design, implementation, integration, verification and validation, and field test.
• Direct experience developing RMF (Risk Management Framework) assessment and authorization documentation.
• Current DoD 8570 certification for IASAE Level II (CISSP) and ability to obtain IASAE Level III within 6 months of hire.
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with SAP access.

Preferred Qualifications

• System security architecture experience.
• Experience working with DOORS and CAMEO.
• Familiarity with security-related tool suites in a DevSecOps pipeline (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify).
• Familiarity with Systems Security Engineering (SSE) documentation, such as Cybersecurity Strategies, Information Support Plans, and Program Protection Plans (PPPs).
• Experience with Anti-Tamper Plans, Counterintelligence Support Plans, Integrated Threat Assessment Reports, Operations Security Plans, Continuous Monitoring Plans, Defensive Cyberspace Operations Plans, Enterprise Architecture Views, and NIST SP 800-160.
• DoD 8570 certification for IASAE III (ISSEP, ISSAP).
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $194,700.00 - $292,100.00. The salary range represents a general guideline; actual offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
