About the role

The EPS Staff Consultant develops technical expertise in managing and retaining assigned clients’ retirement plan business. The Staff Consultant provides exceptional customer service and works effectively with internal teams (e.g., Consultants, Relationship Managers, Legal) and external vendors (e.g., Voya, MassMutual, John Hancock) to maintain successful client relationships and deliver recordkeeping and consulting services for retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), profit sharing, and money purchase plans.

The role requires a basic understanding of the retirement plan business, proficiency in customer service, and a willingness to learn multiple facets of retirement plan administration. The Staff Consultant will assist with team projects and progress toward handling a book of business.

Responsibilities

  • Handle aspects of recordkeeping for client plans to ensure accurate processing in accordance with department service standards, deadlines, and plan documents:
    • Reconcile asset balances (trust and participant accounts) and resolve discrepancies with senior team members.
    • Process transactions, including distribution and loan requests, forfeitures, etc.
    • Retrieve and provide reports from partner portals to assist senior team members.
    • Maintain accurate and timely recording of work tracking logs.
  • Maintain day-to-day client contact for inquiries on assigned plans, responding to client or participant calls/emails within 4 business hours.
  • Correspond with clients, team members, Producers, and Relationship Managers to manage client relationships.
  • Work with Senior Consultants and Team Leaders to review and learn processes for IRS Form 5500/SAR, audit packages, MRDs, and required compliance tests.
  • Gather and reconcile required data for compliance and reporting.
  • Manage deadlines for assigned tasks and complete portions of checklists.
  • Communicate with clients, auditors, and internal partners to respond to questions or requests for information.
  • Identify projects that are part of core services or those requiring additional billing, and complete tracking spreadsheets for proper client invoicing.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent mathematical aptitude, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet client deliverables, including extended working hours during peak periods.
  • Excellent communication, accounting, and interpersonal skills.
  • Two or more years of related business experience preferred.
  • ASPPA RPF certificate completion preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Relius Administration experience is a plus.

Pay

Annual salary range: $45,000 – $60,000, plus potential compensation incentives.
