About the role
The Staff Battery Test Engineer will lead the technical vision for high-voltage battery validation, collaborating across engineering disciplines to ensure robust and scalable testing methods.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide technical direction to lab personnel and external partners on battery system behaviors, methodologies, and infrastructure.
- Methodology Innovation: Develop novel test methodologies and "First Principles" assessments for battery systems.
- Infrastructure Strategy: Source and specify large-scale test equipment to maintain the lab's technological edge.
- Advanced Data Analytics: Create automated data pipelines and analytical frameworks to derive insights from test data.
- Systemic Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis for complex failure modes and influence design changes at various battery levels.
- Risk Mitigation & Governance: Lead and approve high-stakes technical assessments, and integrate "Read Across" activities into the global design cycle.
- Technical Memory & Standards: Design and oversee the organization's Technical Memory, including templates, lessons-learned databases, and toolboxes.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Represent the Battery Test organization in key stakeholder reviews and executive-level design meetings.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in battery testing, power electronics, or EV powertrain validation.
- BS/MS/PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Proven track record of leading complex projects across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Experience with automotive test tools like Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, Tracetronic ECU-Test, Vehicle SPI.
- Experience with battery cycling and automation test equipment (NHR, TLU, Lynx).
- Ability to communicate complex technical failures to non-technical leaders.
- Expertise in consolidating and interpreting large datasets.
