Staff Backend Software Engineer
Hybrid Work Policy – 3 days in-office, 2 days remote. Must be able to report to local office. 20% domestic travel required.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain large-scale backend systems and APIs that support business-critical applications and services.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of distributed systems, including service-oriented and event-driven architectures.
- Review code and technical designs to ensure quality, reliability, security, and performance.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root-cause analysis and remediation efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study and eight (8) years of experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation.
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study and six (6) years of experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation.
- Five (5) years of experience with:
- Backend programming languages including Java and Kotlin.
- Building and operating distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Four (4) years of experience with:
- RESTful APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven systems.
- Databases including relational and NoSQL, and data modeling.
- Three (3) years of experience with:
- Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP, and containerized environments.
- CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices.
- Security, authentication, and authorization concepts in backend systems.
Pay
The expected base compensation for this role is $264,514.00 to $310,900.00 annually. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
