Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana App Platform | US | Remote
About the role
Grafana Labs is seeking a seasoned engineer to join our Cloud / Grafana-as-a-service team. This role involves coding new features, enhancing system operations, and working closely with other teams to shape the product roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Coding new features and enhancing the operational experience of the systems developed
- Authoring, contributing to, and reviewing design documents
- Taking an active role in shaping the roadmap
- Mentoring and supporting other team members and collaborating with different teams across the organization
- Owning the experience of our customers by participating in weekday 12h x 5d and a separate weekend 24h x 2d on-call rotations
Requirements
You must have strong coding skills and operational experience, having been responsible for operating the software you have built. Experience with SaaS platforms and dealing with common distributed systems problems (such as scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, HA, etc.) is essential. Excellent communication skills are required, as are the ability to work across teams and prioritize progress over perfection.
Qualifications
- You are either already familiar with Golang or excited to learn the language
- You have experience with modern AI coding assistants and are comfortable using them within security guidelines
- You are pragmatic and can handle ambiguity effectively

Pay
The compensation range for this role is $174,986 - $209,983 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process.
Schedule
This is a remote position open to candidates in the US and Canada. The role requires weekday 12h x 5d and a separate weekend 24h x 2d on-call rotations.
