Staff Backend Engineer, Database Automation (Go)

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer, Database Automation (Go) to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will focus on designing and building automation that supports the full PostgreSQL lifecycle across cloud environments. The engineer will help create a standardized database service platform, improve operational consistency, and enable reliable high-throughput production systems. In close partnership with cross-functional teams, this person will contribute to scalable infrastructure, efficient database operations, and clear technical documentation.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Design and build automation for the full PostgreSQL lifecycle using Go
• Develop automation for infrastructure across cloud providers
• Integrate AI tools for operational consistency and efficiency
• Build for high-throughput production environments
• Create a standardized PostgreSQL service platform to streamline database management
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions
• Document automation practices and contribute to team knowledge sharing

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of professional software engineering experience with PostgreSQL in complex production settings
• Proficiency in Go for backend service design and implementation
• Experience with Kubernetes operators for stateful services automation
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and core database operations concepts
• Basic knowledge of Ruby on Rails is a plus but not essential
• Strong written communication skills for remote work
• Self-directed and effective organization skills for managing priorities

Pay

$152,800 – $259,200 annually
