Staff Backend Engineer

Veryable is a platform transforming the manufacturing industry by providing a new way for people to find work, develop skills, and better their lives. We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer specializing in Backend technologies to join our Product Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, or other backend engineering frameworks.
• Proficiency in database design and SQL, with 6+ years of industry experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Circle CI and owning the release process.
• Detail-oriented with a proven ability to take on complex problems, break them down, and drive optimal solutions.
• A relentless curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement, coupled with a winning attitude.
• Able to work in-office at our headquarters in Downtown Dallas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring on AWS, GCP, or Azure platforms.
• Implementation and management of message brokers like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS for asynchronous processing and inter-service communication.
• Understanding of front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems, including experience with profiling tools and load testing.
