Staff Backend Engineer

About the role

TechTree is recruiting for a Staff Backend Engineer position on behalf of a fast-growing AI company focused on transforming the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building core data and decision infrastructure for products already in production with leading insurers.

Responsibilities

• Build business-critical backend infrastructure, end-to-end
• Design services, data models, pipelines, and evaluation loops at the center of the product
• Ensure reliability and explainability of an intelligence layer used in real decision-making

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving
• Python (main stack), with open to strong candidates from other OO backgrounds
• Experience with serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2), async workflows, and cloud environments
• Comfort with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
• High ownership, proactive communication, and comfort with experimentation

Qualifications

• Based in Europe
• Bonus: experience with LLMs/generative AI or distributed systems
