About the role

The Staff Backend Engineer will influence and craft the roadmap for teams, ensuring technical excellence and an engineering organization that scales reliably with the business. They will work across the entire technology stack, including Python, Go, FastAPI, and Flask, and lead technical planning and execution for new features. This position requires collaboration with product managers, designers, and clinical experts to translate requirements into intuitive and efficient UI solutions, and direct interaction with customers to solve their issues daily.

Responsibilities

Influence and craft the roadmap for teams, ensuring technical excellence and an engineering organization that scales reliably with the business
Work across the entire technology stack, including but not limited to Python, Go, FastAPI, and other frameworks
Lead technical planning and execution for new features, balancing technical feasibility, usability, and business impact
Design and refine systems to enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and clinical experts to translate requirements into intuitive and efficient UI solutions
Work directly with customers to solve their issues daily

Requirements

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience. Professional experience in software development is essential, along with strong backend programming skills in Python and Go. A general understanding of containers and cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, a track record of making successful architectural decisions, and the ability to ship quickly are also key.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience
Professional experience in software development
Strong Backend Programming Skills (Python and Go)
General Understanding of Containers and Cloud (Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills and a history of demonstrated resourcefulness
Track record of making successful architectural decisions to deliver multi-month, high-impact projects
Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience in environments where you have to ship quickly
