Staff Backend Engineer, AI Systems

Responsibilities

• Build core backend systems for the company’s agent platform
• Design scalable services and APIs for AI agents
• Create the agent memory layer managing context and retrieval
• Create infrastructure for monitoring and evaluating agent behavior
• Translate product needs into backend architectures and data models
• Define technical direction for agentic AI and contribute to strategy
• Promote engineering excellence and mentor team members
• Contribute to team growth through hiring and fostering culture

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in production systems
• Expertise in designing and operating distributed systems for complex workflows
• Familiarity with AI, LLM, or agentic systems
• Strong focus on production quality and reliability metrics
• Proficient communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration
• Full stack experience or collaboration on frontend projects
• Deeper knowledge of AI/ML evaluation and retrieval systems
• Experience with knowledge graphs and entity resolution
