About the role
The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is looking for a Staff Auditor I to assist with various financial audits performed on entities across state government, including institutions of higher education. OSA is the state’s Fiscal Watchdog, holding state government and entities that receive public money accountable on behalf of North Carolinians to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.
Responsibilities
- Participate in planning meetings for assigned audits where the team discusses audit risk and designs audit procedures to address the risks
- Conduct on-site fieldwork, including gaining an understanding of internal controls
- Analyze accounting transactions and perform test procedures
- Continue learning to expand and develop technical skills
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and practices
- Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple priorities
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
