Staff Attorney - The Village Legal and Community Project

About the role

The Village Legal and Community Project seeks a full-time Staff Attorney. The Staff Attorney will support all aspects of our work, including handling a case load and community outreach.

Location: The Village Legal and Community Project, 5113 S Harper Ave. Ste.2C, Chicago, IL 60615, United States. Remote or telecommuting hybrid environment with a minimum of two days in office required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of individual cases in the areas of landlord/tenant, building code violations, parenting time, child support, sealing and expungement of records and other matters as needed.
• Engage in community outreach.
• Represent The Village Legal and Community Project on relevant community task forces, committees, or other government or non-profit bodies connected with our work.
• Work collaboratively with The Village Legal and Community Project supervisors and staff, to provide comprehensive legal services.
• Maintain case files and accurate time records and ensure supervised staff do as well.
• Assist in reporting and administering applicable grants.
• Other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a J.D. degree and be licensed to practice in the state of Illinois.
• Must have at least two years of demonstrated experience in public
