About the role
The Staff Attorney LGBTQ Project at NIJC is responsible for providing legal representation and advocacy to LGBTQ individuals facing discrimination and injustice.
Responsibilities
- Advocate for LGBTQ individuals in court and administrative hearings
- Provide legal guidance and support to clients
- Develop and implement strategies to address systemic issues affecting LGBTQ communities
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to advance the mission of NIJC
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
- Admission to practice law in at least one state or the District of Columbia
- At least 3 years of relevant legal experience
- Experience working with LGBTQ communities preferred
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to social justice and equality
Skills
- Knowledge of LGBTQ rights and advocacy
- Experience with civil rights litigation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
