About the role

The Staff Attorney LGBTQ Project at NIJC is responsible for providing legal representation and advocacy to LGBTQ individuals facing discrimination and injustice.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for LGBTQ individuals in court and administrative hearings
  • Provide legal guidance and support to clients
  • Develop and implement strategies to address systemic issues affecting LGBTQ communities
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to advance the mission of NIJC

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
  • Admission to practice law in at least one state or the District of Columbia
  • At least 3 years of relevant legal experience
  • Experience working with LGBTQ communities preferred

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to social justice and equality

Skills

  • Knowledge of LGBTQ rights and advocacy
  • Experience with civil rights litigation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay
