This Staff Attorney position is domiciled in New York, NY and sits within the Seneca Home Office Legal Department.

Responsibilities

• Handle varied personal injury caseload from inception through resolution.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions as necessary in conjunction with case strategy.
• Conduct legal and medical research.
• Conduct depositions.
• Provide client and claim professionals with analysis and recommendations in a timely manner.
• Communicate with courts, clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-defendants in a timely and professional manner.
• Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at depositions, trials (bench or jury), mediations, and arbitrations.
• Work closely with claim professionals and clients to develop successful strategies for prompt, efficient, and effective case resolution.
• Use technology and billing systems appropriately.
• Delegate work appropriately and utilize office staff effectively.

Requirements

• Member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
• Juris Doctor degree with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of defense litigation experience (in-house or with a fee counsel firm).
• Has tried cases to conclusion.
• Considerable legal knowledge in the defense of personal injury litigation in New York City.
• Knowledge of medical issues relevant to personal injury defense.
• Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding settlement or trial, including case valuation.
• Ability to understand and communicate complex factual, legal, or medical issues.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task.

Pay

The annualized base pay for this position in New York, NY ranges from $151,700 to $222,500. Actual compensation is determined by factors including market pay for the role, responsibilities and skills required, and the employee’s performance. The salary range is regularly reviewed and adjusted per prevailing market conditions. Eligibility for discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs may also apply.
