Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith. About the role

The Northeast Texas Region is seeking multiple staff associates to lead ministry in several areas of East Texas, typically under the direction of an area director. Through formal training and direct field ministry experience, you will learn to effectively carry out and manage Young Life ministry.

Responsibilities

Spiritual Development

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines through active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.

Leadership Development

  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a team reflecting the community.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee members on effective teamwork and yearly ministry strategy.

Resource Development

  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults (principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members).
  • Plan and execute area fundraising events under the direction of an area supervisor and committee.

Direct Ministry

  • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.

Ministry Support

  • Adhere to all Young Life policies, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication to all involved in ministry.
  • Set and review yearly strategic ministry plans to reach every kid.
  • Perform other duties congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.

Training

  • Complete Phase One core training (New Staff Training, Leadership I, Leadership II, Apologetics, and one Winter Training course) within the first two years.
  • Training may be supervised by a regional director, regional trainer, or area director to develop spiritual maturity and character.
  • Participate in regional training meetings and ministry skills training as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in direct ministry.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • College degree preferred.

Work Conditions

  • Exposure to camp extremes: heat, cold, dirt, and long hours.
  • Physical demands including hiking, horseback riding, boating, and more.
  • Must be able to handle these conditions.
