About the Opportunity

The Staff Applied Machine Learning Engineer role is focused on designing, developing, and deploying advanced machine learning models and algorithmic solutions that address complex problems. This position plays a crucial part in driving innovation by collaborating with platform engineers and product teams to deliver high-impact AI applications. It demands ownership of ML solutions throughout their lifecycle, ensuring quality, scalability, and alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of machine learning models and data-driven algorithms for impactful projects
  • Design and develop complex systems involving knowledge graphs and advanced entity detection
  • Collaborate with product and platform teams to manage ML solutions end-to-end
  • Assess runtime complexity and production costs of ML models
  • Communicate modeling decisions and limitations to diverse stakeholders
  • Build, deliver, and maintain enterprise products meeting quality and delivery standards
  • Own project design, implementation, maintenance, and successful completion
  • Support production systems and resolve debugging challenges in distributed environments
  • Integrate latest AI and ML developments to drive innovation within the organization

Requirements

  • US Citizenship or Green Card required due to government contract obligations
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or NLP; PhD preferred
  • Over 10 years of experience in ML engineering with large-scale model development
  • Experience with knowledge graph and semantic representation systems
  • Proven ability in designing and optimizing Agentic AI systems including reasoning and orchestration
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience supporting production systems and debugging distributed systems
  • Proficiency in AI tooling to accelerate research and development
  • Growth mindset with openness to learning and adaptability
  • Commitment to fostering collaboration, psychological safety, and technical excellence
  • Advocacy for inclusion in technical discussions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in start-up or 0 to 1 product environments
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Experience integrating ML models into broader system architectures

Pay

$230,000—$270,000 USD
