Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible)

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will help shape foundational AI capabilities that power impactful products and technical standards across the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to design and scale production AI systems that balance performance, reliability, cost, and responsible use. The position also includes guiding architecture decisions, improving shared tooling, and advancing model optimization techniques in a cloud environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful AI-powered products
• Design, develop, and support AI software components, including training and inference
• Use advanced AI technologies and platforms in production environments
• Innovate foundation model optimization techniques for production-scale AI systems
• Guide the technical vision and roadmap for foundational AI systems
• Establish enterprise AI architecture standards and unify tooling across teams
• Lead the development of model routing, caching, and orchestration systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with required experience in AI/ML development
• 8 years of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java
• Experience designing AI systems with trade-offs in cost, latency, throughput, and accuracy
• 8 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Proven success leading and mentoring engineering teams while influencing stakeholders up to VP level
• Experience optimizing training and inference software for AI systems
• Passion for AI research and the ability to apply novel technologies in production

Pay

Compensation: $244,700 – $279,200 annually
