Staff Accountant / Senior Accountant

About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant / Senior Accountant to join our team on-site in Columbia, Missouri. In this role, you will safeguard the accuracy and timeliness of financial data across a portfolio of companies, manage day-to-day accounting operations, and support key financial closes and reporting processes. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Data Accuracy: Ensure the precision and timely maintenance of financial records across multiple portfolio entities.Core Accounting Operations: Manage daily accounting routines, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), vendor payments, and underlying documentation.General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain the general ledger and reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts, including bank, debt, revenue, and expense accounts.Fixed Assets: Oversee fixed-asset accounting, construction-in-progress (CIP), and property assessment schedules.Month-End Close & Audits: Execute month-end closing processes and assist with annual financial reviews and external audits.Financial Reporting: Prepare financial, accounting, and administrative reports and analyses across multiple ERP environments.Senior Level Responsibilities (For Senior Candidates): Resolve complex accounting discrepancies and technical GAAP matters. Support entity integrations, mergers, and acquisitions. Strengthen and maintain internal accounting controls. Qualifications & SkillsCore Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.Work Ethic: Proactive self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP standards.Experience Requirements: Staff Level: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent professional experience) plus at least 1 year of full- cycle accounting experience. Senior Level: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting experience is a plus); CPA license preferred.Software Proficiency: Practical experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Advanced Excel, Google Sheets, and Sage.
