Staff Accountant (Part-Time, On-Site)
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to provide critical support for daily accounting operations during a key transitional period. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for cash and check processing, point-of-sale (POS) accounting entries, reconciliations, and maintaining supporting documentation. Key Responsibilities
Cash & Check Deposit Processing (Approximately 50%): The Staff Accountant Will:
- Process and record cash and check deposits accurately and timely.
- Reconcile deposit activity and investigate discrepancies as needed.
- Ensure supporting documentation is maintained and properly organized.
- Support daily cash room operations and related accounting functions.
POS to Accounting System Entries (Approximately 50%): The Staff Accountant Will:
- Prepare and enter daily and biweekly transactions from the POS system into the accounting system.
- Verify transaction accuracy and resolve data entry issues.
- Support reconciliation efforts between operational and accounting records.
- Maintain consistency and accuracy across multiple financial systems.
Documentation & Administrative Accounting Support: The Staff Accountant Will:
- Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation.
- Aid with additional accounting and reconciliation projects as assigned.
- Support process continuity and operational efficiency during departmental transition periods.
Required Staff Accountant Qualifications
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- Minimum one year of general ledger accounting experience.
- Experience processing cash and check deposits.
- Familiarity with reconciliations and transaction recording.
- Basic Microsoft Excel proficiency, including: Editing and maintaining existing formulas, Troubleshooting simple workbook issues, Data entry and spreadsheet maintenance, Ensure accurate reporting and data integrity within established templates.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work on-site according to schedule requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Great Plains or similar accounting software.
- Exposure to nonprofit accounting environments.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work independently.
- Positive, customer-service-oriented mindset.
- Comfort learning and following established accounting procedures.
