Staff Accountant (HYBRID)

About the role

The Staff Accountant will support month-end close, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and distribution center accounting activities for a high-volume retail environment. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, analyzing inventory and financial variances, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational support.

The position operates in a professional office environment using Microsoft Office applications and Oracle EBS or similar systems, with an emphasis on accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement in inventory and logistics accounting processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irving, TX. Workplace type: hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
• Analyze inventory transactions, adjustments, shrink, and variance reporting.
• Support inventory accounting and distribution center financial operations.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, operational exceptions, and vendor-related issues.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.
• Partner with Accounting, AP, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams on issue resolution and process improvements.
• Assist with inventory audits, account analysis, and reporting initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-3+ years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Retail, inventory, distribution, or supply chain accounting experience preferred.
