Staff Accountant, Billing & GL

About the Role

Ampersand Brands is a growing portfolio of beloved confectionery brands, including Hammond’s Candies and Lolli & Pops. You will own billing and the general ledger for our Denver candy manufacturing and wholesale business, ensuring invoices are accurate and timely, and the books are reconciled and closed on schedule. This is a hands-on role with no direct reports, reporting to the Corporate Controller. Success in this role can lead to broader ownership of the wholesale and manufacturing close, and senior responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Own wholesale billing end-to-end: issue invoices, resolve discrepancies, and maintain billing cycle schedules.
• Maintain the general ledger: handle journal entries, manage the chart of accounts, and ensure the ledger remains close-ready.
• Manage cash receipts and trade accounts receivable reconciliation.
• Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis, identifying and resolving issues before close.
• Generate recurring reports for the business, such as post-billing and AR reporting.
• Provide support for external audits from the company side.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in billing and general ledger, or full-cycle accounting.
• Proven experience running billing and booking entries independently.
• Strong reconciliation and month-end cutoff discipline, especially under tight close deadlines.
• Drive to grow into owning the full close process.
• Manufacturing, wholesale, food, or CPG experience is a plus.

Skills

• Proficiency with Sage 100 (MAS 90 / MAS 200) is a strong plus.
• Experience with other mid-market ERP systems is transferable.

Pay

For this role, the pay range is $72,000 - $85,000 USD per year (Corporate or Remote).
