Plunkett's Pest Control, a family-owned company with over 100 years of history, is adding a Staff Accountant to our growing Finance team. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to help shape how the position develops as our company continues to expand.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare recurring financial reports and support budgeting and forecasting
- Support accounting for chemicals, equipment, fleet assets, and inventory
- Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation
- Assist with audits, tax preparation, and regulatory compliance
- Work closely with Operations, Human Resources, and Payroll to ensure financial transactions are accurate and compliant
- Support our Tax Manager with tax compliance and reporting
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-5 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a service-based, construction, facility services, or pest control industry
- Familiarity with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics
- Knowledge of inventory accounting or job-costing
- CPA designation or CPA candidacy
