About the role
The Staff Accountant will prepare financial reports, account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, and perform other accounting duties for CBS Operations & Engineering and Multiplatform Distribution. This position offers the potential to work across all divisions within the Network.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and entering journal entries
- Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Handle monthly entries for Union Contributions accrual, revenue accruals, and expense accruals
- Process intercompany transfers and production billing activity for divisions including:
- Shows: The Drew Barrymore Show, Inside Edition, Nickelodeon Slime Time, We Need to Talk, Weekend College Football, Inside College Football
- Brands: CBS Media Ventures, Interactive, Sports Network, Paramount Media Networks
- Reconcile daily and weekly Production Billing activity to the general ledger
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
- Deliver quarterly accounting deliverables
- Perform all month-end intercompany confirmations
- Respond to PwC requests
- Serve as a business partner across Controllership and FP&A teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of professional accounting experience with general ledger functions and supporting month-end/year-end close process
- Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), standards, and practices
- Intermediate proficiency with Excel (Pivot Tables), Word, and Outlook
Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems, such as Oracle
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organization and analytical skills
- Accuracy and high attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
Pay
Hiring salary range: $64,800 – $83,700. The range applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
