About the role
Mister Car Wash is the nation's largest and fastest-growing multibillion-dollar car wash company, with over 500 locations in 21 states. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Headquarters team in Tucson, Arizona. This role plays a vital part in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting key reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with a solid foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities
- Record daily financial transactions, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including closing sub-ledgers, preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and conducting balance sheet account analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, proactively identifying discrepancies and taking necessary corrective actions.
- Foster a flexible and adaptable team culture, encouraging a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude to meet evolving business needs.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports as needed.
- Assist with audit processes, providing documentation to internal and external auditors as needed.
- Maintain compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, and continuously provide feedback to improve efficiency.
- Participate in special projects or process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain open lines of communication with cross-functional teams to share insights.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and make better business decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience OR recent graduate with advanced accounting coursework and internship experience.
- Working knowledge of financial systems and tools, including ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
- Approach new challenges with a hands-on attitude, demonstrating a willingness to learn and take on evolving responsibilities.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and internal controls (preferred but not required).
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial data and documentation.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with internal teams, auditors, and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions, formulas, and spreadsheet management for financial analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
