Staff Accountant
About the Role
The Staff Accountant will be a key resource to the Accounting & Finance department and to other departments in the organization that require assistance in accounting-related matters. You will support senior accounting professionals with tracking and reporting key financial information vital to ongoing operations and success.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries while understanding their potential impact on the General Ledger
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts as assigned
- Assist in the generation and review of monthly supporting schedules
- Analyze and provide insight into monthly results versus budget and/or forecasts
- Analyze and research expense activity to ensure proper timing and classification in accordance with corporate policy and US GAAP
- Evaluate current procedures and make recommendations that lead to cost reductions and other efficiencies, contributing to accounting best practices for the company
- Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy in managing assigned tasks
- Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned, delivering ad-hoc requests in a timely manner
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline, such as Accounting Information Systems (AIS), Master of Science in Accounting and Information Technology (MSAIT), Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Analytics, or AI for Business
- Part-time or internship experience in an accounting role is a plus
- Sound knowledge of GL accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); exposure to accounts payable is a plus
- Previous experience with ERP software is a plus
Skills
- Exceptional computer literacy with Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and Power Automate/Power Apps
- Experience with or strong interest in AI, machine learning, automation, and analytics in an accounting context
- Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
- Ability to promote and participate in a team environment
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong listening, presentation, and communication skills
- Possesses a "can do" attitude
