Staff Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team at our Mason, Ohio location. As part of Clopay Corporation, you will contribute to a legacy of innovation, safety, and design in the garage door and high-performance closure solutions industry.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledgers of relevant operating companies.
• Prepare all required journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely closings.
• Analyze, identify, and quantify balance sheet accounts with exposure and communicate findings to management.
• Work with operating companies and corporate personnel to ensure proper documentation for and approval of all transactions.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
• Assist in the review of monthly income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow.
• Identify profit potential and cash flow and RONA improvement opportunities.
• Monitor transactions for unusual items and research those transactions using relevant accounting literature.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of system-generated reports and use such reports to expedite monthly closings, account analyses, and financial statement preparation.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly workpapers and related variance analyses for Griffon personnel.
• Prepare annual audit workpapers.
• Maintain and update appropriate policies, procedures, and related documentation.
• Interface with the plant workforce, management team, and corporate personnel, requiring strong communication and cross-collaboration.
• Complete additional tasks as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
• At least 5 years of financial or accounting experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing cost accounting.
• Practical experience with ERP systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; must be a self-starter.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA is a plus.
• Oracle ERP Applications experience.
