Job Duties and Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be responsible for determining the best processes and techniques for all aspects of welding. Processes include friction, MIG, magnetic-arc, laser, projection, as well as future process development.
- The duties will include determining current and future states for standardized production welding processes, education of employees/process engineers in welding theory and practice, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, work closely with the metallurgical lab, customer interfacing and support project cost analysis.
- Develop Standard Bills of Process, Equipment and Poka-Yoke for welding processes.
- Develop process flow charts, PFMEA’s, equipment FMEA’s and process specifications as required.
- Provide project management for multi-plant quality resolution and read across activities.
- Provide technical project management for major equipment purchases, including new and current technology, involving multiple plants.
- Lead the process to share and deploy best practices for welding across multiple product groups throughout Dana globally.
- Assist in performing equipment health checks / audits, as well as global critical spare parts strategy.
- Interface with equipment vendor(s) to ensure robust system design, build, runoff and installation.
- Lead and manage CQI‑15 Welding System Assessment program, ensuring compliance with AIAG requirements, customer-specific standards, and continuous improvement of welding processes.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred or related field.
- Formal education and extensive experience in welding processes and equipment.
- Must have a fundamental understanding of statistics ie: Cp, Cpk, Std. Dev., etc.
- 10+ years of manufacturing and/or assembly experience.
- Technical proficiency in welding, manufacturing and assembly processes and deployment of best practices.
- Proficiency with blueprint interpretation and knowledgeable in GD&T.
- Experience developing PFMEAs, control plans, and process flow charts.
- Supporting / leading new product / process / equipment launches.
- Experience with automation and robotics related to welding.
- Basic working knowledge of drivelines preferred.
- Ability to support global manufacturing operations, including domestic and international travel as required.
- Proven project management skills.
- Must be a self-starter and willing to work with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated leadership, team building, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
