Sr. Vehicle Maintenance Technician/DOT/CDL

About the Role

Provides timely, quality maintenance for FedEx vehicle fleet and ground support equipment, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and documentation. Documents work and maintains adequate inventory using FedEx computer systems. Ensures work is in accordance with OSHA and DOT standards. Guides and supports a staff of technicians and trainees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on FedEx vehicle fleet and ground support equipment.
• Document work and maintain inventory using FedEx computer systems.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT standards.
• Guide and support a staff of technicians and trainees.
• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty commercial vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and box trucks (preferred).

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred.
• ASE Master certification preferred.
• Four (4) years of fleet, automotive, or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of equipment and testing tools for troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and/or hybrid motorized equipment.
• Proficient in operating a personal computer.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and respond to inquiries.
• Possession of a basic set of automotive hand tools, including metric sizes.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver heavier weights with assistance.
• Ability to work without supervision for extended periods.
• Ability to work in noisy, non-climate-controlled environments.
• Must maintain constant alertness and work safely.
• Willingness to work any shift.
• Valid driver’s license in state of residence.
• Must meet qualifications outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations.
• Medical exam required.
• FMCSA-covered safety-sensitive position; subject to regulatory alcohol and drug testing (including marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids).

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A CDL strongly preferred for performing road tests and operational evaluations on tractors following repairs.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, drivetrains, suspension systems, and trailer repair.
• Experience with heavy-duty commercial vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs.

Pay

$33.00 - $43.41 per hour.
