Sr. User Experience Designer
About the role
At Early Warning, we’ve powered and protected the U.S. financial system for over thirty years with cutting-edge solutions like Zelle®, Paze℠, and so much more. As a trusted name in payments, we partner with thousands of institutions to increase access to financial services and protect transactions for hundreds of millions of consumers and small businesses. Positions located in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York follow a hybrid work model to allow for a more collaborative working environment.
Responsibilities
- Design across Zelle® and CertosTM product surfaces - consumer-facing flows, partner-facing guidelines, and everything in between
- Translate complex payment and identity concepts into experiences that feel simple, clear, and trustworthy to end users
- Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes from early concept through delivery
- Contribute to UX guidelines and standards that partner financial institutions implement across the Zelle® network
- Participate in user research and usability testing; turn findings into clear design decisions
- Share work in critiques, give and receive feedback constructively, and help raise the craft bar across the team
- Stay close to the competitive landscape - understanding how peers in payments and e-commerce are solving similar problems
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of UX/product design experience, with a portfolio showing strong craft and clear thinking on complex products
Some grounding in payments, fintech, banking, or a comparably complex ecosystem - you understand that financial products carry real stakes for real people
Strong visual design sensibility: typography, layout, hierarchy, interaction detail - you care about the quality of your output
Proficiency in Figma; comfortable with prototyping and usability testing tools
Clear communicator - in design reviews, in documentation, and with non-design partners
Self-directed: you manage your own workstream, ask good questions when you need to, and do not wait to be told what to do next
Collaborative and receptive to feedback: you have a point of view and you hold it lightly
Qualifications
Hands-on experience with payment flows, checkout UX, or identity verification products
Familiarity with how payment rails work — enough to design around the constraints, not just the happy path
Experience contributing to design systems or UX standards documentation
Webflow or front-end familiarity (HTML/CSS) as a strong bonus
Experience with usability testing tools such as UserTesting, Maze, or Lookback, etc.
