About the role
The Sr. Universal Banker at Mechanics Bank is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks including new account transactions, identifying and closing sales opportunities, and supporting teller line transactions. This role also involves reviewing and approving loan applications, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and pursues new customer opportunities for additional products and services
- Provides comprehensive deposit services to individuals, fiduciaries, and small businesses
- Processes and closes consumer and small business loan applications
- Supports teller line transactions, including cash handling and other operational duties
- Maintains and balances a cash supply for transactions performed
- Reviews client transactions for red flags and fraudulent items
- Maintains compliance with established internal operational standards and Federal and State regulations
- May lead and direct the activities of Customer Service Representatives and other Universal Bankers
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED
- Minimum of 2 years bank operations and sales experience
- Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer service
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as a team member
- Ability to make decisions and review and approve other employee decisions
- Extensive knowledge of Bank deposit products and services
- Thorough knowledge of Bank's standard loan products
- Knowledge of small business and consumer credit principles and practices
- Extensive knowledge of alternative Bank services and products and vendor provided products
- Ability to persuade, including the value and benefits of using the Bank's services and products
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State banking regulations
Qualifications
- Notary license preferred
- Extensive knowledge of banking products and services
- Comprehensive understanding of banking regulations and internal policies and procedures
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to make sound decisions and review and approve other employee decisions
- Knowledge of banking products and services
