The Sr. Trust Officer - Market Leader role at Mechanics Bank involves administering and managing large and complex trust, investment management, agent for trustee, and custody accounts. This position requires a strong understanding of legal and tax documents and the ability to represent the bank in various professional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively administer and manage trust, investment management, agent for trustee, and custody accounts.
  • Accurately interpret and apply provisions of governing documents consistent with applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Manage all tax and legal activities related to assigned accounts.
  • Coverage of account assets, ensuring appropriate documentation and authorization for payments.
  • Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to resolve account issues and concerns.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients, beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders to foster referrals and new business opportunities.
  • Represent the bank in civic and community groups to enhance its reputation and expand business opportunities.
  • Travel 10-20% of the time.

Requirements

  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, with a Graduate Degree preferred.
  • 10 years minimum of trust administration experience, with 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Licensing and certifications: CTFA or JD preferred, Notary license may need to be obtained.
  • Extensive knowledge of personal trust administration, with 10+ years of experience.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret legal, investment, and tax documents, working effectively with internal and external advisors.
  • Effective interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary and individual income tax laws, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to utilize specialized trust administration software.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to identify and address potential liability issues.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $170,000 - $260,000 annually, with an additional AIP bonus up to 25%.
