About the Role

The Senior Trust Advisor serves as a subject-matter expert on trust and fiduciary services for ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. This role administers complex trust relationships, collaborates with UHNW Financial Advisors, Financial Planners, and Investment Portfolio Managers, and develops, interprets, communicates, and facilitates complex trust and estate planning matters as part of advice-based solutions for clients.

The role has primary accountability for exercising discretion in the best interests of beneficiaries, executing the terms of estate plans or documents where FNBO serves as Trustee, Personal Representative, Conservator, or Guardian. This often involves broad discretion for beneficiaries with competing interests and managing financial risk for the organization. The position combines strategic leadership, deep legal and fiduciary expertise, and elite client relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Fiduciary Expertise:
    • Exercise sound decision-making in the best interests of beneficiaries, including balancing business risk with client interests.
    • Develop, interpret, communicate, and facilitate complex trust and estate planning matters as part of advice-based solutions.
    • Approve disbursements of fiduciary funds according to trust conditions and beneficiary needs.
    • Resolve client issues and collaborate with clients to articulate and achieve goals.
    • Maintain knowledge of current trends and changes in fiduciary matters (e.g., estate planning, probate, tax planning, guardianships, special needs trusts, state-specific laws).
  • Administration:
    • Manage risk for assigned accounts in adherence to regulations (e.g., Part 9) and state laws to ensure fiduciary duties are met.
    • Prepare documentation for transactions, ensuring completeness and appropriate approvals.
    • Monitor account activity, validate daily transactions, and notify portfolio managers of cash requirements or future distribution needs.
    • Process discretionary distribution requests from beneficiaries, including documentation and approvals.
  • Relationship Management/Service:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor, maintaining proactive relationships with clients, beneficiaries, and their families.
    • Anticipate and address client needs by coordinating internal and external partnerships.
    • Retain and grow the client base by delivering high service standards and ensuring profitability through fee monitoring.
    • Collaborate with clients’ advisors (e.g., attorneys, accountants) to develop and implement comprehensive wealth plans.
    • Participate in business-level committees.
  • Leadership:
    • Mentor other Trust Advisors/Administrators on best practices for client interactions and retention.
    • Provide subject-matter expertise to UHNW Advisors to support division goals.
    • Contribute to strategic planning to enhance the Team Led model.
  • Compliance:
    • Understand and comply with bank policies, laws, OCC regulations, and BSA/AML programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Preferred: CPA, CTFA, or Juris Doctor degree.
  • 15+ years of experience in trust, investment, or financial services.
  • Proven relationship management experience.
  • Ability to provide complex advice adhering to fiduciary standards.
  • Strong knowledge of the finance industry, including local, state, national, and global economic trends.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and recommendations.
  • Ability to provide estate planning advice for highly complex and sophisticated relationships.
  • Unrestricted work authorization; no future sponsorship required.

Pay

Compensation range (base pay): $158,696.00–$269,783.00. Final offer may vary based on experience, education, and skill level.

Schedule

This role is anticipated to work onsite at the posted location. Work location may change based on business needs.
