Sr. Trial Attorney

About the role

The Sr. Liability Trial Attorney will represent commercial insureds of Zurich North America Claims, handling complex personal injury cases involving General Liability and Commercial Auto.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and try high complexity, high exposure General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases.
• Conduct initial investigations and provide legal analysis and advice.
• File legal pleadings and documents, conduct legal research, and prepare for and conduct pre-trial discovery.
• Handle hearings and trials, and manage post-trial activities.
• Perform all aspects of insurance defense, including managing caseloads and budgets.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Litigation area.
• Member of the Bar in good standing in jurisdiction(s) in which practice is located.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
• First chair Jury Trial experience.
• Experience with workers’ compensation claims.
• Proven trial and negotiation skills.
• Well-organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and proactive approach to file handling and caseloads.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Knowledge of billables and diary review with substantive and procedural legal knowledge.
• Prior experience in an insurance defense environment.
• Strong negotiation skills.

• Experience working in a team-based environment.
• Strong collaboration skills.
• PC literate.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications: Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Litigation area AND Member of the Bar in good standing in jurisdiction(s) in which practice is located.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
• Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $130,000.00 - $160,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
