About the role
STV, a nationally recognized leader in engineering, construction management, architecture, planning, and environmental services, is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our growing transportation engineering team in our Hartford, CT office.
Responsibilities
- Perform traffic engineering studies and designs, including traffic signal design for CTDOT and CT municipalities (physical equipment and timings).
- Review contractor submittals during traffic signal construction.
- Conduct transportation engineering and traffic planning studies.
- Perform traffic simulation analysis using VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic software, and operational analysis using HCS.
- Write and review traffic impact studies and analysis reports.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to provide traffic inputs for environmental studies and roadway design elements such as roadway signing, pavement marking, MPT plans, Design Approval Documents, and/or traffic signal operation analyses.
- Coordinate with DOT and local agencies.
- Assist in public information meetings.
- Support the preparation of technical proposals and business development activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred.
- Prior work with traffic signal design for CTDOT or CT municipalities preferred; experience with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, MASSDOT, or other agencies considered.
- Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and AutoTurn is desirable.
- Thorough understanding of HCS, VISSIM, Synchro, and SimTraffic software is desired.
- Experience related to traffic safety (vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle), roadside/intersection safety, accessibility, crash data analysis, and development of crash countermeasures.
- Successful experience meeting scope, schedules, and budgets on transportation projects/studies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
Pay
Compensation range: $146,678.11 – $167,632.13.
