Sr Technologist

Join a dynamic infrastructure operations team as a Senior Technologist II, System Engineer in a hybrid Houston, Texas environment. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers the chance to work independently on identity management, server platforms, automation, and enterprise support initiatives while contributing to meaningful IT projects across a global environment. Responsibilities Administer and support cloud and Microsoft 365 services, including Azure, Entra, Exchange, Intune, and OneDriveBuild and maintain automation scripts and workflows using PowerShell and related tools such as Ansible or OrchestratorManage identity and domain services, including Active Directory, Entra, DNS, and DHCPSupport Windows Server environments across a global infrastructureReview system logs, investigate issues, and determine effective next steps for resolutionRespond to escalated incidents and troubleshoot complex Tier 3 technical problemsParticipate in on-call or after-hours support as neededPartner with communications, business systems, and desktop support teams to resolve infrastructure issuesDocument support processes and assist in training and knowledge sharing within the teamContribute to IT projects and manage assigned work with minimal supervision Skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experienceAt least 15 years of total IT experienceAt least 10 years of experience with Windows Active DirectoryAt least 10 years of experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, or OrchestratorAt least 7 years of experience using system events, logs, and troubleshooting tools for analysis and reportingAt least 7 years of experience with vSphere or Azure hypervisors in a large, multi-site environmentAt least 5 years of experience working with data structures and formats such as XML, JSON, YAML, or WQLStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a changing environment Preferred Skills Experience with Exchange Online, on-prem SMTP, or MimecastBackground in patch management and systems monitoring tools such as SCCM, Ivanti, SCOM, SolarWinds, or Azure ArcExposure to merger or acquisition-related technology activitiesTechnical certificationsExperience creating support documentation and training materials Horizontal is committed to fostering a workplace where diversity, equity, and inclusion are valued and respected.
