Sr. Technician, Analytical Lab - 2nd Shift
About the role
Prepare and analyze samples in support of quality, engineering and laboratory testing programs while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
Operate a variety of analytical equipment such as x-ray diffractometer (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), oxygen-nitrogen-hydrogen (ONH) analyzer, BET specific surface area analyzer, Helmholtz coil and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) instrumentation.
Demonstrate exceptional manual dexterity within glovebox environments while maintaining sample integrity and contamination control requirements.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and test methods to ensure quality and reproducibility.
Work closely with engineers, scientists, and laboratory personnel to support project objectives and testing priorities, executing tasks reliably and with precision.
Accurately document sample preparation activities and maintain sample traceability throughout the testing process.
Communicate observations, anomalies, equipment issues, and potential concerns to appropriate technical staff, including ideas for process improvements.
Demonstrate the ability to learn new techniques, adapt to changing priorities, and support evolving laboratory needs.
Collaborate effectively with team members to meet laboratory goals, project timelines, and customer expectations.
Perform assigned work independently while recognizing when to seek technical guidance or escalate issues appropriately.
Contributes to a positive, safety-focused, and quality-driven work environment, maintaining strict adherence to laboratory safety practices, quality standards, and contamination control procedures.
Requirements
- Associate degree, or higher, in chemistry, materials science, engineering, physics or related technical field
- Excellent hands-on skills and ability to learn and operate lab equipment
- Strong attention to detail with experience following SOP’s, work instructions or other technical procedures
- Quality mindset with an understanding of the importance of following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Must be highly collaborative and able to work within a diverse team environment
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience in a controlled environment
- Ability to perform the following: Sit or stand for extended periods, Perform repetitive fine motor movements throughout a work shift, Work inside gloveboxes for extended durations, Distinguish small features, defects, and sample conditions through visual inspection, Lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally, Wear required PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, lab coat, or respirators.
Pay and Benefits
- $30.00-40.00/hour for 36 hours/week which is base rate + 10% shift differential
