Starshield is searching for a technical writer to compile and update technical specifications and requirements documents for cryptographic and security systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate with software and hardware engineers to produce high-quality documents to aid certification efforts, requiring self-direction, initiative, and the ability to drive progress in ambiguous situations.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical and requirements documents, including but not limited to security evaluation documents for security systems, verification and validation plans, and design documentation
- Collaborate with software engineers to produce concise descriptions of software functionality for a technical audience
- Oversee the timely delivery of required documentation to external evaluators
- Propose and develop improvements to requirements management systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional experience as a technical writer; OR 7+ years of professional experience in technical writing in lieu of a degree
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
- Must be willing to travel (approximately 15%) to other SpaceX locations, as necessary
- Must be willing to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support proposal or critical project timelines
- This position requires successfully obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C.1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C.1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing requirements documents for information security standards
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, etc)
- Excellent written English and grammar
- Experience developing written test plans for security evaluations
- Ability to quickly learn new technical information and relate technical information in precise terms
- Experience with project management tools
- Experience with LaTeX
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance
Pay
Level 3: $115,000.00 - $160,000.00. Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
