Responsibilities
- Lead accessibility initiatives across web and native applications, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA and Section 508 standards.
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits and assessments of digital content, identifying areas for improvement and providing actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with design, development, and content teams to integrate accessibility best practices into the project lifecycle.
- Develop and deliver training sessions and resources to educate team members on accessibility principles and practices.
- Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in digital accessibility and advocate for their adoption within the organization.
- Monitor and report on the progress of accessibility initiatives, ensuring timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.
- Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback on accessibility issues and incorporate their insights into project planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline.
- Prior telecom experience and at least 8 years as an Accessibility Engineer.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for promoting inclusivity and accessibility in digital environments.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong expertise in web accessibility design and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 AA.
- Familiarity with Section 508 compliance requirements.
- Proficient in conducting accessibility audits and assessments.
- Experience with web and native app accessibility standards and practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with accessibility testing tools and software.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and their impact on user experience.
- Familiarity with user-centered design principles.
- Ability to create and maintain documentation related to accessibility processes and standards.
