Responsibilities

  • Lead accessibility initiatives across web and native applications, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA and Section 508 standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits and assessments of digital content, identifying areas for improvement and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with design, development, and content teams to integrate accessibility best practices into the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and resources to educate team members on accessibility principles and practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in digital accessibility and advocate for their adoption within the organization.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of accessibility initiatives, ensuring timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.
  • Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback on accessibility issues and incorporate their insights into project planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline.
  • Prior telecom experience and at least 8 years as an Accessibility Engineer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for promoting inclusivity and accessibility in digital environments.

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong expertise in web accessibility design and implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 AA.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in conducting accessibility audits and assessments.
  • Experience with web and native app accessibility standards and practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with accessibility testing tools and software.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and their impact on user experience.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design principles.
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation related to accessibility processes and standards.
