About the role

Tesla is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager on the Optimus Manufacturing Engineering team to drive the design, build, and launch of high-volume manufacturing lines for humanoid robots. You will own programs from concept to completion, managing scope, schedule, cost, and execution across assembly lines in global Tesla facilities. You will coordinate design engineering, manufacturing, controls, testing, software, quality, construction, and production to align team goals with company priorities. The key objective is to develop new and innovative manufacturing lines to achieve ambitious production goals, with all processes initially planned, assembled, and tested at Tesla facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own concept-to-completion delivery of manufacturing programs from ideation and validation through production execution
  • Create, maintain, and communicate schedules and plans covering process development, validation, line design, equipment fabrication, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), shipping, Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and production ramp
  • Drive vendor partnerships with supply chain and purchasing to align on engineering requirements, scope, schedule, and cost
  • Coordinate build milestones with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, controls, facilities, construction, and operations teams
  • Set goals, track deliverables, identify risks, and drive mitigations across all project stages
  • Track equipment readiness, project cost, and report status, blockers, and changes to senior leadership
  • Drive requirements and solutions with internal stakeholders across infrastructure, logistics, controls, software, and manufacturing engineering
  • Identify team priorities and motivate the project team to complete critical tasks within time and resource constraints
  • Own report-outs across all levels of management and functions within Tesla
  • Travel 10-25% domestically and internationally to support builds, FAT, install, commissioning, and vendor engagements

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience across a mix of engineering and project management
  • Experience in technical program or project management, ideally with multiple delivered projects of medium to large-sized capital equipment systems ($5M–$25M+)
  • Experience coordinating between technical and non-technical team members across multiple time zones
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project and JIRA
  • First-hand experience as a manufacturing engineer in a complex construction, production, or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to handle stress and drive the program forward amid competing priorities and conflicting requirements
  • Self-driven, passionate, responsible, and responsive with strong ownership of outcomes

Pay

Expected compensation: $112,000 – $253,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
