Sr. Technical Program Manager - Gemini

QuEra is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead program management activities around product and service delivery of QuEra's quantum computers, starting with Aquila and Gemini, and extending to future generations of QuEra systems. This execution-oriented, cross-functional role coordinates work across hardware and software engineering, research, and operations, with limited product management responsibilities scoped to requirements collection and feedback.

About the role

The Senior Technical Program Manager will ensure reliable delivery and operation of gate-based quantum computers, establish structured feedback loops from customers and users into engineering, align customer projects for success, and support product development toward industrial-grade platforms through disciplined program execution.

Year 1 focus

• Product: Launch two product lines on the on-prem Gemini machine at AIST: Gemini-QEC (for error correction researchers) and Gemini-NISQ (for NISQ-era application developers), followed by planned upgrades and feature releases.
• Customers & Projects: Enable success for preview and GA customer projects on Gemini, balancing customer experience, data quality, and timely execution.
• Integration: Complete system integration with access/distribution partners via HPC and cloud modalities.
• Development: Achieve milestones in the NEDO program to develop hardware and software systems toward industrial-grade quantum computers by 2030.

Responsibilities

• Product: Translate high-level product goals and technical roadmaps into executable plans, milestones, and dependencies. Track risks, schedules, and cross-team deliverables to ensure on-time, high-quality launches.
• Customers and Projects: Act as the program coordination point for customer co-design and onboarding. Ensure customer expectations, constraints, and feedback are clearly communicated and tracked. Support technical teams with structure, timelines, and communication.
• Integration: Coordinate integration activities, including alignment efforts and end-to-end tests. Collect and synthesize requirements from partners, spanning functional and non-functional needs (e.g., API payloads vs. security).
• Development: Align timelines, requirements, and dependencies with product, business, and operational constraints. Track progress, support documentation, and contribute to reporting for external stakeholders (e.g., NEDO).
• Manage machine time, use agreements, and regulatory requirements (e.g., data privacy, network security) across all activities.

Requirements

• Engineering background (e.g., semiconductor, systems engineering, advanced computing infrastructure).
• Experience in technical program management, system delivery, or execution of complex technical products.
• Strong ability to coordinate across multiple teams and external stakeholders.
• Comfort in customer-facing, execution-oriented roles.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with on-premise deployments and security/network-constrained environments.
• Exposure to quantum computing, HPC, or advanced computing platforms.
• Experience working with government, national lab, or research customers.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technical domains quickly.

Pay

The approximate base salary range for this position is $170,000–$250,000, determined by geographic placement, role-specific knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, QuEra provides equity grants for all new hires.
