About the role

Embark on a transformative journey as a Sr. Tech Lead – AWS, where you will play a pivotal role in driving Barclays’ cloud modernization strategy and shaping the future of our core platforms. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient AWS solutions that accelerate innovation, enhance customer experiences, and enable enterprise-wide agility. You will have the unique opportunity to influence large-scale engineering decisions, work with technologies, and coach high-performing teams at the forefront of Barclays’ digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience with Java & Spring frameworks, with solid experience in micro-services architecture.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise system integrations - API, Events, Files, and business workflows.
  • Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) using tools/frameworks like CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, Telemetry or equivalent tools.
  • AI enthusiast with an understanding of Agentic-AI fundamentals and frameworks.
  • Exposure to the Financial domain, particularly Core Processors such as TSYS, FDR, FIS.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of AWS Cloud Services - MSK, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Networking concepts, Cloud Formation.
  • Experience with Messaging platforms and integrations - Kafka, Webhooks & events streaming.
  • Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) using tools/frameworks like CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, Telemetry or equivalent tools.
  • AI enthusiast with an understanding of Agentic-AI fundamentals and frameworks.
  • Exposure to the Financial domain, particularly Core Processors such as TSYS, FDR, FIS.

Benefits

This role is located in Whippany, NJ. Minimum Salary: $ 120,000 Maximum Salary: $ 175,000. The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
