About the role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a portfolio of individual and business clients, including high-net-worth individuals (HNWI).
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance & Review: Manage and oversee the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and entities (Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065).
- Strategic Tax Planning: Lead tax planning and research to identify opportunities and mitigate risks for clients, including HNWIs and business owners.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop junior tax staff; assign work, conduct performance reviews, and ensure strict quality control and deadline adherence.
- Client Advisory: Serve as the primary client liaison on tax matters; clearly communicate tax strategies, implications, and project status to clients and stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with audit, accounting, and advisory teams to address tax adjustments, compliance, and financial reporting impacts.
- Research & Documentation: Perform technical tax research and prepare comprehensive memos, workpapers, and documentation to support positions and filings.
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with current tax laws by monitoring legislative changes and implementing necessary process or advisory updates.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee electronic filing processes, maintain accurate tax file organization, manage tax provision calculations, and ensure strong internal controls.
- Business Growth: Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and cross-selling tax advisory services.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive tax experience at a public accounting firm or corporate tax department, with proven experience as a Tax Manager or in a similar senior tax role. Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's in Taxation or an MS/MA in Accounting is preferred.
- Credentials: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of individual and entity taxation, with hands-on experience handling S-Corp, C-Corp, and partnership tax issues.
- HNWI Specialty: Proven experience serving high-net-worth individuals and providing tailored, proactive tax planning.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000 / year
